DesignDocs was founded by a Designer, a Chartered Accountant, and a boutique software development firm. This team of like-minded individuals each brought their unique expertise to the project, and together with research and input from industry veterans and experts, custom built DesignDocs to suit the workflows and needs of modern interior design firms.
Dean Einarson is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of experience creating productivity gains for small businesses. Dean is a Co-Founder and current CEO of DesignDocs, a leading financial management software platform built for the interior design industry. Firms using DesignDocs gain an edge on competitors by having clear and simple financial operations, saving them time, and driving better business outcomes.
One of the two founders, Gillian Gillies, owns and operates an independent design firm in Toronto, Gillian Gillies Interiors Inc. Gillian brings over 15 years of residential interior design experience to DesignDocs. Like many independent designers and decorators, as Gillian’s business grew, so did the piles of paperwork. It became increasingly frustrating and time consuming to prepare and manage proposals, invoices, and purchase orders across multiple projects. With time and expense tracking included, the back office became a full-time job on its own. Despite well-organized procedures, duplication seemed unavoidable and the situation convinced her there had to be a better way.
