Everyone experiences stress at work—it’s totally normal. However, sometimes dealing with stress can take a backseat to other, more “important” workplace needs. Eventually, the stress becomes too much.

Download our free guide about how business management software can help design firms stay organized.

Dealing with stress as it arises is important for our own well being, as well as the well being of the companies we manage. As an interior designer, there are some stress management tips and tools that can help you stay on track with work and your own health at the same time.

Keep reading to see seven stress management tools that can help designers manage stress.

1. Use The Right Project Management Software

There’s perhaps nothing more frustrating than working with business management software that doesn’t understand your needs. You could easily find yourself spending hours trying to organize something that should have taken a few minutes. It doesn’t help your business and creates more stress than necessary. Take matters into your own hands and work with a business management software designed specifically for interior designers. From collaborative working capabilities, automated project reports, and all-in-one capabilities, you’ll always have the information you need in one place.

2. Introduce Team Coffee Breaks

Did you know stepping away from work for a coffee break increases productivity and helps boost office morale? It’s true! Another study found that having regular coffee breaks with co-workers helps reduce stress during high-stress periods at work. There are dozen of perks that come with regular coffee breaks and dealing with stress is just one of them. No matter how busy it may be, remind yourself that taking a moment to sip on some caffeine will have greater benefits to you and your business in the long run.

3. Try Out-of-Office Days (or lunches)

Stepping out of the office for a walk at lunch or working from home once in a while can help you manage stress while still remaining productive. One of the perks of a cloud-based business management software is that you can access it anywhere. If you want to work from home, your laptop can become your office. When you begin to feel the stress creeping in, consider taking a day to work at home and step away from the office.

4. Get Enough Sleep

High levels of stress can make sleeping difficult. On the other hand, getting enough sleep helps us deal with stress. Sleep and stress go hand-in-hand. Getting enough sleep should be a priority that’s high on your checklist. Without it, you’ll find yourself more susceptible to stress and less productive at work.

5. Introduce Automation to Finances

For many interior designers, managing finances can become one of the most stressful aspects of business. Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be! Accounting software for interior designers can introduce automation to your finances, helping you streamline accounting duties and refocus time to other jobs. From purchase orders to invoices, all your documents will be looking great while dealing with stress.

6. Get Up and Exercise

Like sleep, exercise can also help you deal with stress. You don’t have to take up bodybuilding, but walking, running, or swimming can help you turn negative energy into a more positive headspace. If you’ve found yourself becoming more stressed at work, try going for a walk at lunch or a jog in the morning. You’d be surprised how much a little sweat can help you overcome stress.

7. Remember to Unplug

As an interior designer, this tip might be the hardest but also the most important. Turning off your phone can help you breath and get some space from work. New research from the British Psychological Society suggests turning off your smartphone and ignoring social networks could be a simple way to quickly reduce stress. Whether it’s work or your social life, unplug the phone and let yourself escape for a while.
